STEP awards - July 2009

EMU Systems Ltd (EMU) was delighted to support the local economy by sponsoring the Innovation in Technology category at the 12th annual STEP Business Awards. The award scheme, run by the South Tyneside Enterprise Partnership (STEP), is the only one exclusively open to businesses in the South Tyneside area.

Despite less than favourable economic conditions, innovation is clearly thriving in the region and competition for the award was tough. After much consideration the accolade was awarded to Boldon-based Moneygate Group, an online sourcing and placement specialist for a range of financial products such as mortgages and loans.

Narrowly missing out on the accolade was shortlisted Jag Productions, a South Shields-based media services company.

EMU engineering director Duncan Tytler presented Moneygate Group with the award at a ceremony held at South Shields.

Duncan said: "We were delighted to support these local business awards and were pleased to see the quality of innovation in the region. Judging the category wasn't easy but the Moneygate Group was a very worthy winner. We're already looking forward to next year's awards."

EMU has recently launched edd:e (electronic digital display of information and energy), a device which measure the usage of electricity, gas, water, temperature and humidity.
